Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, George grew up attending St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral where his father, the Very Reverend Father Thomas Zain, continues to serve as the Dean.

His chanting journey began in 2018 when he started taking lessons in Byzantine music with a local Hieromonk, the Archimandrite Gerasimos Makris. After being tonsured a reader in 2019 and studying chant for about four years, George began teaching classes in Byzantine music part-time at Kimisis Tis Theotoku in Southampton, NY. Graduating with his BA from Hofstra University in 2024, he spent two months in New Orleans, LA studying under Masterchanter John Michael Boyer.

At the conclusion of his studies, George moved back to Brooklyn where he now serves as the Pastoral Assistant, Youth Director, and Chanter at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. Among his duties, he directs the church’s Youth Byzantine Choir and has many students he works with privately. He is currently pursuing a Diploma in Byzantine music from the Hellenic Conservatory of Music & Arts in Greece under the direction of Masterchanter Athanasios Paivanas. George is currently honing his skills as a composer as well, and has produced settings of both Liturgical and Paraliturgical hymns in an effort to expand the repertoire of Byzantine music in the English language. He is also a member of the National Antiochian Orthodox Choir of North America and has performed numerous times with the Greek Archdiocesan Byzantine Choir of America.

George has been a member of the Sons of Antioch since its inception in 2021, and hopes to continue in this ministry for the glory of God!
